Free Shape Puzzles for Kindergarten – Which Two Shapes Make It
These free printable shape puzzle worksheets help kindergarten and first grade children see that bigger shapes are built out of smaller ones. Each question shows a shape with a dotted line through it, and children work out which two shapes the dotted line makes, then circle the right answer from three choices. Because the dotted line is already drawn, there is only one correct answer, which matters here: asking what two triangles make would have several answers depending on how you turn them. Seeing a square as two triangles, or a hexagon as two trapezoids, is the first step towards fractions and towards area later on. The shapes used are the triangle, square, rectangle, trapezoid, circle and half circle. There are forty puzzles across the ten pages and the last page is an answer key. Just download, print, and look closely!
