These free printable nouns worksheets teach kindergarten children the first and most useful part of speech: the naming word. A noun names a person, a place, or a thing, and once a child can find one, sentences stop being a wall of words. The set rotates through four tasks three times so nobody does the same thing twelve times: circling the naming word out of three choices, sorting nouns into person, place and thing, circling the one noun inside a short sentence, and writing the word that names a picture with a word bank at the top for spelling help. Every question has exactly one correct answer. Animals are deliberately kept out of the sorting pages, because whether a dog counts as a thing is a fair argument and a child should not be marked wrong for it. The choices are also picked so that no word doubles as a verb, so run and jump are never offered as naming words. An answer key covering all twelve pages is included on the last sheet.
