Free Measuring Length Worksheets for Kindergarten – How Many Cubes Long?

These free printable measuring worksheets help kindergarten and first grade children take their first steps in measuring length. Instead of a ruler, children count cubes: each page shows five objects with a row of identical cubes underneath, and children count the cubes and write how many cubes long each object is. Measuring with a unit you can count is how children learn what measuring really means, well before centimetres and inches make any sense to them. The cubes always start and stop exactly where the object does, so there is only one right answer, and the objects on each page are all different lengths between three and eight cubes. Once your child is confident here, try measuring real things at home with building blocks or paper clips laid end to end. The last page is an answer key. Just download, print, and measure!
