Free Count and Color Worksheet 6-10 for Kindergarten – Dolphins, Elephants and Frogs

Math

This is the second of five free count and color worksheets for the numbers 6 to 10. The page has five rows of pictures – seven dolphins, eight eggplants, ten elephants, six foxes and nine frogs – and ten circles beside each row. A child counts the pictures and colors in the same number of circles.

Unlike page 1, the numbers on this sheet are deliberately out of order. On the first page the amounts grow one at a time, which means a child can finish it without really counting. Shuffling the numbers here removes that shortcut, so this is the page where you find out whether the counting is solid.

What Is on This Worksheet

  • Five rows to count and color, using the numbers 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 in a mixed order.
  • Each group is drawn as a row of five with the rest underneath – the same five-and-some layout as a ten frame.
  • Ten circles beside every row, so a child can also see how far each number is from ten.
  • Name and date line at the top, ready for classroom use.
  • One PDF, one sheet of paper, no sign-up.

How to Use This Page

  1. Print the page on ordinary paper.
  2. Count the pictures in the first row out loud together, touching each one.
  3. Ask “how many circles will you color?” before your child picks up the crayon.
  4. Color the circles from the left, one for each picture.
  5. Compare the finished rows and ask which one has the most.

A Note for the Adult

Watch what happens on the elephant row. Ten pictures fill both rows of five completely, and children who have understood the layout will say ten without counting at all. If your child still counts all the way from one there, they are not doing anything wrong – it simply means the five-and-some idea has not landed yet, and more pages will help.

This sheet needs no writing, so a child who cannot yet form the numeral 9 can still show that they know what nine means.
