Free Question Words Worksheets for Kindergarten – Who and What
These free printable question words worksheets teach kindergarten and first grade children the six words that start most questions: who, what, where, when, why and how. The first page is a chart showing what each word asks about, a person, a thing, a place, a time, a reason or a way. On the ten worksheet pages children read a question with the first word missing and circle the word that fits. Many questions would work with more than one of the six words, since where is my teacher and who is my teacher are both perfectly good questions, so for every question the words that would also fit are kept out of the choices. That way there is one right answer every time. Question words are the next step after building simple sentences, because they introduce a second kind of sentence, one that ends with a question mark.
